Chocolate and cherries work so well together, and in these overnight oats they go perfectly! It’s extra creamy with the addition of coconut yoghurt and it adds a slight tartness that compliment the cherries too. It’s naturally sweetened with dates and has chia seeds to boost the nutrition.
For these overnight oats, you blend together the almond milk, dates and cacao powder. These three ingredients make a chocolate milk! Pour it into a bowl and stir through the rest of the ingredients. Refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight and you have breakfast sorted (or you can be like my husband last night and eat it for dinner).
This recipe is:
- gluten free (if you can have oats or use gluten free oats)
- naturally sweetened with dates
- 7 ingredients
Some notes for you:
I use up to 2 dates, depending on the size and how sweet I would like it on the day. I would suggest adding one at first, then give it a taste and add another if you would like it to be sweeter.
You could replace the dates for a liquid sweetener of your choice if you prefer. You won’t have to blend the ingredients this way, just give it all a whisk together instead.
I used fresh cherries but frozen will work here too.
I used a natural flavoured coconut yoghurt, but I think a vanilla one would go perfectly with the chocolate and cherry flavours too (or even just a splash of vanilla extract). Be sure to check out the sugar content of the yoghurts, to make sure to choose one that is the healthiest option.
